This is entirely your surgeon’s determination. We will not begin sessions without written clearance. Some procedures allow PBM to begin within 2 weeks; others require longer. Please ask your surgeon directly.
No — PBM and physical therapy are complementary. Many clients schedule red light therapy sessions around their PT appointments, using PBM on PT days to reduce post-session soreness, or on off days for systemic recovery support.
Metal implants are not typically a contraindication for red light therapy. Photobiomodulation uses non-ionizing light — not electrical stimulation or magnetic fields — and does not interact with implanted metal in the way that some other modalities do. Confirm with your surgeon as part of the clearance process.
